    Power Man Question

I'm working on a Power Man custom and have a pair of the elastic pants from CTTV. They don't offer these in blue so I bought a pair of the gray pants and have tried the boil method with Rit Dye without success. I've boiled them several times in the dye and they are not any more blue than when I started. Any tips on how to get the dye to take to that material or perhaps a different source of pants that would work for Luke Cage? I know Doc Mego offers a royal blue body suit that could be modified, but I'm not the world's best sewer and was trying to avoid that if possible. Thanks!

Are you using the dye for synthetic fabrics? Regular rit doesn’t work so great on them.

I bet I am. I'll look up some dye for synthetics. I should have thought of that!

I'll second that! I use Rit Dye More for synthetics on doll clothes. The regular Rit dye is made for natural fabrics like cotton and wool, and will wash out of polyester material. I think most doll/action figure clothing use a polyester material.

Is Rit Dye and Rit Dye for synthetics fairly easy to use?

Yes, I've used it several times. The only thing I would stress is to wear gloves and try not to touch the dye or get it on your hands and make sure you rinse the clothes completely when done. The first time, I rinsed the wet clothes with my bare hands, and the next day my hand broke out in tiny blisters. I guess it's the same with hair dye. You might have an allergic reaction to it.
I recently used Rit Dye for synthetics on my custom Charlie's Angels jumpsuits. The two wearing blue and purple jumpsuits were originally white.

I had the same idea and have one painted and ready to go!

I thought of using something else for his pants but he has almost a spandex look to his pants. I think the Parker pants would fit the bill. I've got ritmore dye on the way so if that doesn't work, I'll go the Parker route.

Does the FTC Peter (Parker) figure come on a regular body or a teen body?
