Type S Grapple Hands and New Mego Bodies

Has anyone tried using the FTC Type S Grapple Hands on a New Mego Body. I have an extra pair of the hands I thought I would use on a TNG Riker kitbash so he can hold his phaser better.

I haven't tried them on a New Mego body, but I have used regular CTVT hands on Type S bodies. The fit is rather loose, so I usually use plumber's tape to make the connector piece on the hand thicker or, if I am feeling lazy or when I run out of plumber's tape, I often use Gorilla Glue to hold them in place.

It looks like the peg on the Type S Grapple Hand is incompatible with the forearm hole on a New Mego Trek body. :(

They Grapple Hand pegs won’t go into the forearm of a New Mego Trek body. I tried heating the pegs and they still won’t go in. I have not tried heating both the arm and the hand and then trying to attach them.

So the castaway hand peg is bigger? Maybe they will swap between hands? Use the Mego peg and the castaway hand?

Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn’t thought of that. Might try it if I can manage it without damaging the Grapple hands

I've used dozens of Grapple Hands with the New Mego Bodies.

My Recipe:

Boil and Pop off the New Mego Hands off the Figure with Microwaved boiling water ( A 12 oz coffee cup, on 4 mins works)

Cut a piece of heat shrink tubing ( home Depot, Harbor Freight, etc) and place over the end of the Gripper hand Peg.

Dip the now covered gripper hand peg in the still hot water

Dip the forearm of the New Mego figure into the boiling water

Insert the gripper Peg into the New Mego figure, done.
