******Customego Hall of Fame Class of 2021******

The Customego Hall of Fame proudly announces it's class of 2021.

Since the very first Mego action figure was produced, they have been customized by children of all ages. Armed with leftover parts, acrylic paints, Sculpey, and the mission to “fill in the gaps” in the lines Mego made legendary, customizers have played a vital role in the hobby reaching its enormous popularity and are the inspiration for the Re-Mego Renaissance we continue to experience today!

The Customego Hall of Fame seeks to recognize and honor these legendary customizers AND customs of the hobby. And, without further adieu it is our honor to present to you the Customego Hall of Fame class of 2021.

Jason DeWitt The original description to Jason's site (wearesmall.com) found on the old Customego section of the Mego Museum still says it best: “There's no real way to explain this, but suffice it to say it goes so far beyond customizing that there's an entire world (worlds, to be fair) populated by custom figures.” Unlike his contemporaries who pursued extensions of all the traditional Mego action figure lines (World's Greatest Super Heroes, Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, etc.), Jason created his own world(s) and to this day has over 1000 original character customs that exist in everything from a western town, a fleet of spaceships, a full carnival, a pirate ship, an island, a residential district, a night club, and so much more. Jason's customs and his customs vision, to this day, are still ahead of their time. We are proud to inaugurate Customego Customizer Jason DeWitt into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2021.

Jim Hampton An inductee of the Customego Hall of Fame in 2019 for his Stealth Iron Man custom, Jim is inducted this year for his complete body of work. An “OG” from the original “Levy List” Jim has been customizing for close to 25 years. He was one of the first Mego customizers to have his own brand (Knock Knock Toys) with production runs of various figures, including: The Purple Avenger (Phantom), The Dark Crusader (Batman), Orazzib (Bizarro), The Sheriff of Nottingham, Evel Knievel, Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde with a double faced head, and his legendary Mark I Iron Man complete with crate...just to name a few. We are proud to inaugurate Customego Customizer Jim Hampton into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2021.

The Toyroom There have been many custom Mego card and box makers but none more prolific, or as imaginative, as The Toyroom aka Anthony Durso. What originally started as “a few pieces to sell on eBay” eventually led to The Toyroom becoming the go-to place for the custom packaging needs for Mego customizers. From exact reproduction action figure and playset cards and boxes to unique single, double, and triple action figure cards to reproduction cereal boxes to even custom action figure packaging made to look like a Hostess Twinkies box from the 1970s, The Toyroom can do (and has done) it ALL! We are proud to inaugurate Customego Contributor The Toyroom into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2021.

Bossk by Kraig Hatcher aka Piecemaker selected by Austin Hough. From the “What Might Have Been If Mego Snagged The Star Wars License” category, we have this exquisite custom of Bossk the bounty hunter from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. From the hinged mouth to the clawed hands and feet, no detail was missed on this figure. Bossk is every Megohead's 1980 dream figure. We are proud to inaugurate Bossk by Kraig Hatcher aka Piecemaker into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2021.

Ghost Rider by Jason Jerde aka Remcomonster selected by Scott Arendsen. There wasn’t a World’s Greatest Super Heroes figure Jason wanted more as a kid than Ghost Rider and nothing was going to stand in his way of having one. Wanting him to look like he had been designed and released by Mego in the ’70s, he enlisted several veteran Mego customizers to help him achieve his vision. Delays in suit production; having to find an old Mego ChiPs motorcycle; painstakingly creating the perfect box; and a couple of different head sculpts later and we would have to say: Mission Accomplished! We are proud to inaugurate Ghost Rider by Jason Jerde aka Remcomonster into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2021.

Happy Days Arnold's Drive-In Playsetby Jason Young aka Brown Bear selected by Scott Pierce. Being a life long Happy Days fan and Mego collector, it was a no-brainer for Jason to make an Arnold's Drive-In Playset. The base is from Dida Display; outside panels incorporate art from the 1976 paper-doll Arnold's playset; and the inside panels were designed based on extensive research of the television show set, and finally, “props” were added including: a pay telephone magnet that Jason had as a boy AND a jukebox that actually lights up and plays "Rock Around the Clock". How perfect is that? This playset can only be described in one word...Coolamundo! We are proud to inaugurate Happy Days Arnold's Drive-In Playset by Jason Young aka Brown Bear, into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2021.

Hawk by Mikel Lopategui aka Mike Oz selected by Scott Pierce. Mike built his Hawk figure to go along with the ZICA Buck Rogers and Tiger Man figures from 2010. To say it looks “factory” would be an understatement. It is without a doubt one of the most screen-accurate custom Mego action figures ever made. We are proud to inaugurate Hawk by Mikel Lopategui aka Mike Ozinto the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2021.

Ro-Man the Robot Monster by Paul Wasson aka Laser Mego selected by David Lee. Ever the lover of the campy antagonist, Paul could not resist making this custom Mego. Using his skills in 3D design and printing, and laser cutting he crafted a head so like the film version it would make the cast and crew proud. Then, combining his head with a Figures Toy Company Gorilla Grodd figure...BOOM!...Ro-Man! We are proud to inaugurate Ro-Man by Paul Wasson aka Laser Mego into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2021.

TV Devilman by Dan Canzonieri aka efpunk selected by Scott Arendsen. A lover of Mego action figures since birth, and a collector of Japanese toys since junior high, Dan was inspired to create his custom Mego TV Devilman by the 12” Medicom Real Action Hero TV Devilman figures in the mid-1990s. He based the card art on a hybrid of the Mego Worlds Greatest Superheroes and The Popy TV Hero’s box style; the head is an original sculpt; and the clothing and box art was a collaboration between his wife Audrey and himself. We are proud to inaugurate TV Devilman by Dan Canzonieri aka efpunk, into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2021.

The inductees will be honored with a special internet presence on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheC...ame/showcasing the customs and customizers enshrined.

Pending the restrictions due to the Covid lockdowns, the Customego Hall of Fame class of 2021 induction ceremony and dinner is planned for all honorees at the Marriott Columbus Northwest, the Thursday night immediately preceding the Mego Meet at the Marriott Courtyard Columbus West.

    Further details will be forthcoming.

Honorees were chosen by the Customego Hall of Fame panel of Austin Hough, David Lee, Scott Pierce, and Scott Arendsen. Individual inductees require a three-fourths majority vote to be enshrined, and, traditionally each voting member has one non-veto-able vote for an individual custom's inclusion. This year, though, the board felt that there was such a strong individual custom group to select from, an additional two were chosen.

The goal of the Customego Hall of Fame is to honor customizers and customs that have made an undeniable impact on the Mego customizing hobby. Inductees are chosen by the Customego Hall of Fame panel on an annual basis and announced at the beginning of each year with a ceremony and dinner immediately preceding that year's Mego Meet and inclusion in the online Customego Hall of Fame.

Please join the us in welcoming the fourth annual class of Mego customizers and customs into the Customego Hall of Fame!
