    Anyone cookin' on Xmas Eve?

F'ed-up year in every way, strange days into these holidays… but finding inspiration to have a delicious meal this eve. Fairytale of New York and a good bottle of booze…

I'm prepping for a traditional red wine pot roast (with a non-traditional molassass-based rub down) with a French (Jacques Pepin recipe) onion sauce. Not sure what I'm doing with the pandemic (less than fresh) potatoes yet.

Whatcha cookin' out there in toyland?

Tonight homemade gluten free pizza and tomorrow turkey chili.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Spatchcocked, dry-brined roast chicken with home-made dressing & gravy. Turned out great, my Thanksgiving mess was redeemed.

Tamales. Every Christmas we eat tamales. But couldn’t go and stand in line to get our local favorites, and they don’t deliver. So we are making them (sister and myself). We are making pork and chicken tamales. Along with salsa. For dessert, an apple (granny) pie.

Starting the prep for tomorrow's meal. Our Christmas Meal Bubble will only consist of 3 people, but we'll be delivering care packages earlier in the day.

7 Bone Prime Rib w/ Au Jus
          Yorkshire Pudding
          Brussel Sprouts w/ Pancetta
          Mashed Potatoes
          Gulliver's Corn
and a store bought Bûche de Noël

Plenty of adult beverages and, of course, Fairytale of New York playing in the background.

Oh, you all must be talking about the new Bon Jovi song “Fairytale of New York. “

I’m making a giant steak chili tomorrow, possibly some cinnamon rolls, and definitely some Fireball drinks.
Expectation is the death of discovery.

^^ Hah! Pogue Mahone JBJ! What a disaster… thank goodness Shane (RIP Kirsty) is still with us to sing it proper.

My roast was amazing, and I ended up going with sour cream mashed topped with smoked crispy potato bits and bell peppers.

Awesome menu choices all… your making me hungry again. Eat, drink and be merry!

I made ham and cabbage for Christmas but when the time came I didn't have a taste for it so I made myself Cup Noodles Stir Fry Korean BBQ flavor with Brown and Serve maple flavored sausage.

                  was pretty good

I'd hate for someone to get banned on Christmas Day, but you went too far. Mods...

Gave her a good sear on all sides.

And in to the oven at 200° for a long slow cook.

Your timing is perfect. Got a nice medium-rare slice ready for you, and this song just came up in my Christmas playlist.
