Finally finished a project long in the works...a complete restoration of my favorite childhood book cover.
The 1976 Scholastic edition of Phantom of the Opera. A pretty faithful retelling of the novel with a good deal of Lon Chaney, I must have read it dozens of times.
I own several copies and used the best condition one for the restoration which took about 20 hours total.
I removed every single crease, scratch, scuff, printing defect, and even the fading, restoring this beautiful piece of art to it's original glory.
I only wish I knew who the artist was, since they are not credited.
I have wondered if the artist cleverly hid their signature on the organ bench. We'll never know!
