Has anyone used watercolor pencils on Mego heads?

Been watching some doll customizing videos on Youtube, and several of them use colored pencils/watercolor pencils to do details like the eyes and then spray sealer on the head. I draw a whole lot better than I could ever think of painting, especially if I'm trying to do things like eyes or eyebrows. Painting things like that is out of my talent range. So if anyone has tried this, ant suggestions on what to look for pencil-wise?
