    Captain America Question

    Hi,
I'm brand new here but Mego's have been my absolute favorite toy since 1973 when I saw a giant wall of them at a Toy's R Us in Daly City, CA.

I still have about 8 originals from my youth and fixing those up and adding to my collection has become my quarantine comfort food (minus the calories).

I recently bought a beautiful type 1 Captain America but had a question about the star. The seller's description says they thought the star was a reproduction but from the photos I saw and what I read on the Museum page, it makes me think this may be an original? Can anyone confirm or deny?

And I guess a secondary question is that if it is original; can it be cleaned?

    Thanks so much!

    Welcome!

It looks original early-issue to me, but I don't understand the lines on it.

Cleaning: You can likely clean the adhesive residue on the back of the star with goo-gone and a q-tip. You can clean the nap on the front with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol, may take several attempts. I'm hesitant to suggest something more agressive because I don't have this version and I'm uncertain how durable the sticker and nap is.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.
