Wow, great lists! I really miss TCM since I dumped satellite.

I don't know how legal it is, but if you search for some of the Universal Films on Roku, like Son of Frankenstein, you get a listing for "Son" from 2017, but it's the original film, streaming for free on some generic sounding streaming channel called "Classic Movies & TV". My old Frankenstein Legacy DVD set is apparently dying, and my Blu-Ray player wouldn't play "Son", so I looked it up, and watched the whole thing there. I wonder if this isn't kind of like people posting it to YouTube, and Universal just hasn't yanked it down yet?

^I had problems with the Wolf Man set early on due to the double-sided disc thing, but a new DVD player took care of that. I rewatch a film or two every year (partially for podcasts), but this is the first time I had real issues with them in multiple players. So I got the newer DVD box set. It has everything from the previous set, plus House of Dracula, Abbott & Costello Meets Frankenstein, and several additional special features.

I will have to check them, I had issues with some duel discs but not others in other releases. I see Walmart has them now seasonally.

I've never understood why Uni won't release a double (or even triple, with Lom)-feature of the Phantom of the Opera wth Chaney & Rains. .

There were always problems with those Legacy sets. I regret selling my original discs, (with poster artwork), but Peacock makes a lot of it moot.

Re: Chaney's Phantom. I know Universal's hangup is it being public domain. They don't want to have to do a remastering just to see it legally ripped off. The way around it would be to create a new audio track and colorize it.

Chris - Peacock is on Roku free with ad-support. Give it a try.

Roku provides the simplest way to stream entertainment to your TV. On your terms. With thousands of available channels to choose from.

I don't get Comet TV, so I guess only the first Godzilla film is available for me on TCM. (I think all of them are on HBO Max, though.)

However, I guess I'll have to watch the MST3K riffs of old cheesy horror movies, since I like snarky commentary with my monster movies.

I don't advocate colorizing anything, ever. But, a new copyrighted audio track is exactly what they should do. The cost is likely negligable, classical music can be arranged. They already are marketing the images and I assume paying Chaney Enterprises. If they can slap that minimalist Phillip Glass crap onto Dracula, they can tackle the Phantom.

The three Phantom films in a set would I think appeal to completist fans, much like the Creature Legacy set. EDIT Actually, they could also include Cagney's "Man of a Thousand Faces"--that would be a treat.

Which are you counting as the third from Universal? I do wish they would combine the Chaney & Rains versions precisely because I am that sort of completist and would love a matching Phantom volume.

Peacock is all Universal plus some Columbia titles. It appears they've pulled most of the catalog from TCM and others to keep in-house. Peacock can be subscription or ad supported, but I've found it's not that intrusive. The app is available through any device (I watch through xbox). As for what's available on the free side...

Four of those movies are not free. Frankenstein,The Mummy,The Wolf Man and Island of Lost Souls all have feathers next to them, meaning you have to pay to watch them. But since they only charge 5 bucks a month,I think that's not a bad deal.

I didn't see that before. I wonder if that happened for October. I may take the free week and see what else is on there. I don't get why Creech and Revenge are not listed.
