Sad news - Tim Arnold has passed away

Austin shared with me this morning that Tim passed away from injuries sustained in an accident at home a few months ago. Tim was a fixture here for many years, Customizer of the Month, multi Custom of the Week designee, and just a great guy. I remember talking custom vans with him a lot as it was a particular interest we both shared, along with Roth-era Van Halen and general 70s kitsch. Here's a link to his interview with DaveMc from '07

I will try to track down some more photos of his work this weekend. A lot of the links in his old threads are non-functional.

That’s sad. Never knew him myself but hate seeing anyone within our little community passing.
My thoughts are with his family and friends.

This is heartbreaking, over the years I grew very fond of the man, Tim made the Museum community better by being present here.

I am crushed by this news. Tim and I always joked about having the same toys when were kids. He was always pointing out cool stuff he thought I might want like my Fly Avengers Fly launchers. He helped direct me towards some great Mead school supplies and and some Funstuf Spidey Web Shooters. I remember trading some merch from my NYC TV station with a station in his area to get him a hat from a local newscast. I bought a bunch of his stuff I really didn't need when he needed to raise money when his sister was sick. He was one of my first friends on the Museum.

I remembered how moved I was that he was selling off his impressive collection when his sister became ill. He gave up something he loved that truly made him happy for something he clearly loved more and made him even more happy. He brought so much more to the Museum. He truly was one of the reasons it is such an amazing place.

He was a great collector but more importantly, he was a great guy.

I was just going through a bunch of emails with Tim and came across one discussing the great Slurpee signs you made and about the possibility of asking you to repro a Mead display sign. He was raving (deservedly) about your work.

I seem to recall him showcasing his new toyroom in a thread, it was terrific.
