    Neca retro Richard Simmons.

Sure, why, not. No weirder than all the Golden Girls stuff I guess.

In a surprise announcement, NECA Toys has revealed a new figure based on 80's icon Richard Simmons. For readers who may be a bit younger, Richard Simmons was an insanely popular fitness instructor in the early to mid 1980's. Known for his "Sweatin' to the Oldies" video cassettes, Simmons used his incredibly energetic personality, and...
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

He may not be the hero we need, but he’s the hero we deserve.

I guess Neca is sweatin' to the oldies. Seems harmless fun to me. I'm still holding out for Mr. Rogers.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

NECA seems to really lean in to the the kitsch factor of Mego style figures.

You know that is probably the best likeness they've ever done. It really is spot on.

Trevor Grove has been sculpting all of their retro cloth heads and he is amazing!

What have we done to deserve this!?!
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

I think that's really him… he goes missing for a while, Neca finds him and shoves him into the Grove-duplication-gizmo thus making it our collective responsibility to look after him.

Oh, probably more-smarter-than-you Neca-voodoo here. As I understand Richard still has a huge following/network of fans (not people who merely saw the tv show/bought the vid, but rather a loving horde from the live interactive events he did/does) and this will likely sell just fine.

Am I the only one hoping they do a Robo-Richard Simmons from The Simpsons?

I know it may be sad to admit this but I'm going to buy one. Not only is the likeness spot-on but like it or not, he was an 80's icon for a great many.
