Throwback Thursday: 1984 DC Comics 50th Anniversary Editorial Party

Watched this video this week and I found it interesting, 1984 DC Comics 50th Anniversary Editorial Party hosted by Jack Ryder (The Creeper). Not only do you have the first on camera appearance of Jack Ryder , but "Wonder Woman" makes an appearance. Jack interviews DC Comics editors, writers, inkers and more as the are celebrating 50 years of comic books and are revealing future plans like Who's Who and a little mini-series called Crisis On Infinite Earths.

I have screen captures on my wiki site:

I've been meaning to watch this, but my work computer (that I'm working on from home) hates YouTube videos.

Where did DC think this was going to be shown? Was it done for internal use only?

I think it was to be sent to comic book stores, much like the Zero Hour special was released.

^Ah, got it. VCRs were still pretty large back in 1984. Hard to imagine Comic Book Guy using a big top loading VCR behind the counter.

Agreed, but it was probably shown on panels at big cons like SDCC, Chicago (which was the second major con in the 80s) and other venues like that for fans and potential customers to see.

Just watched it...MAN!!! What a time capsule! So many creators who are no longer with us, projects that either changed, or never saw the light of day. Just wonderful stuff!!!

Amazing nostalgia value in that video. Some true DC luminaries being interviewed, too. So cool to watch.
