Ken Osmond (Eddie Haskell on Leave It To Beaver) RIP

Ken Osmond, who on TV's "Leave It to Beaver" played two-faced teenage scoundrel Eddie Haskell, a role so memorable it left him typecast and led to a second career as a police officer, died Monday.

Osmond died in Los Angeles at age 76, his family said. No cause was given.

"He was an incredibly kind and wonderful father," son Eric Osmond said in a statement. "He had his family gathered around him when he passed. He was loved and will be very missed."

Weird reading he was a LAPD police officer most of his adult life

He played such a good weasel. Beaver isn't nearly as "cookie cutter" as it is remembered when you watch it, mostly due to Osmond's portrayal of Eddie, and Tony Dow's constant deflection of his dark side urgings.

I remember seeing one of those "Where Are They Now?" clips somewhere back in the 80s, and Osmond was shown to be a police officer. Van Williams followed a similar route post-Green Hornet.

Here is a clip from the early-90s TV Show "Top Cops" where he tells the story (and there is a re-enactment) of getting shot in the line of duty.

Wow, so he and John C. Holmes were different people after all.

                RIP Ken.
