Mego/CTVT Long John Silver's pirate sword.

This question is more for the CTVT experts here.
    The set up:
I thought I had made a mistake. Thought I wound up with an original Mego Long John Silver sword. This confused me because I don't believe I ever owned any original Mego pirates. Not impossible, for I have purchased at many shows, bags of loose accessories from all different lines of toys. I've owned some of the CTVT pirates and parted them out. Long John Silver being one of them.
    The story:
Found LJS sword in my accessories. Light grey straight sword. No CTV marking. Looks just like the one shown in the gallery as original Mego. Ordered 3 LJS swords from CTVT resently. Received 2 silver LJS swords with curved blade with CTV markings. Also received 1 light grey straight blade LJS sword with no markings.
    The question:
Did CTVT put out a LJS sword that differed from the silver one with marking?

That sounds like a knockoff sword from another company. Maybe Matchbox Fighting Furies.

There are two CTVT runs of LJS swords. The first is firmer silver plastic with flashing from moldling--from the India-produced Super-Pirates reissue. The second is more flexible pewter (silver-gray) plastic with clean molding--from the China-produced Solomon Kane figure.

I think the Kane ones are very nice.

Fighting Furies have three swords--samurai, rapier, and cutlass. All three have painted hilts and none resemble Mego swords. Same scale and equally fun, though.

PNGwynne, Does the Solomon Kane's sword have CTV marking? Thank you so much for your information. I couldn't figure out why they were different.

No, no indicia. The moldings bewteen vintage and Kane are very similar, but the color difference is notable: Vintage is a satiny silver-gray plastic; Kane's is more sparkly and lighter gray.

PNGwynne, well that just ruins everthing. Now I have to figure out how I got this light grey Kane sword with the CTVT MIB Long John Silver I purchased at a show. I hate my memory, I can't trust it no more. lol! Thanks for all the help. It at least lets me know why I got two different styles in my last order.

Gosh, I don't know what to say about a boxed CTVT one. I've ordered several swords for customs and I always asked for Kane (second-issue) ones.
