ReMego Svengoolie presents: This Island Earth (1955)

This Saturday on MeTV, Svengoolie present the Universal Picture's This Island Earth:

Nuclear physicist Cal Meacham begins experiencing strange phenomena. First his plane has a burnout and just before it crashes, it is surrounded by a green glow and lands safely. Next he receives the parts for a strange device called an interroceter. When he assembles the device, it puts him into contact with an individual named Exeter. Exeter, then invites Cal to join a group of scientists on a secret research project. He then boards a remote controlled plane which takes him to a secret location. When he lands he meets old flame, Ruth Adams. They then go to a house where a secret lab is located. After Meacham meets his hosts he begins his work but soon he decides to escape with Ruth and fellow scientist Steve Carlson. During the escape attempt, Carlson is killed as well as several other scientists that were at the house. Cal and Ruth eventually discover that Exeter is an alien from the planet Metaluna and the reason they were kidnapped is to help Exeter and his people find a new source of energy to aid in their war with the warlike people of the planet Zagon. When they arrive on Metaluna, they meet the leader who informs them that the planet is on the verge of collapse and the only viable alternative is to move to Earth. imdb

The Metaluna Mutant is so hard to put into any type of poses this was as close to it I could get

I will see if Laser Mego can reproduce the alien globe later.
Annex - Reason, Rex (This Island Earth)_01.jpg

I just got in the interocitor from the action figure bundle but the package was open and the seller did not seal the box so there is no telling where the top half is so I just printed one out. I will see if LM reproduce one to fit later.

The next 2 movies of this month are Dracula's Daughter & Attack of the 50 ft Woman. Dracula's Daughter was an early photo session before I built the studio so it will look like a new session. 50ft Woman I did during the original Svengoolie set so I want to redo that part.

Yes, the Metaluna Mutant isn't the easiest to pose, but it is a great looking figure. One of my favorite ReMegos.

I always look forward to your Svengoolie movie of the week customs, great pics and scenery.

To bad you didn’t have a few more Mutants, you could give them instruments and you could call them
the Metaluna Mutants heavy metal band.

I never thought of the Metaluna Muntant as part of the Universal Monsters so when TRU put had them I did not pick him up. I was lucky last year to pick up one off of ebay for the same price as a FTC new figure for a future Svengoolie set.

I like the idea but this figure is getting hard to find and getting him to hold instruments would be extremely hard.
