    Franchise Domination

With the death of Honor Blackman, I realized because of groups I am in as the news broke that she had a "triple crown" of British pop culture (Avengers, Bond, Doctor Who), and then I realized so did Diana Rigg and Joanna Lumley (allowing "Curse of the Fatal Death"), and I posted in a FB group for Avengers asking about others, or if maybe we could even have a "grand slam" by adding Hammer Horror (which Blackman also had). For the record, other "tripler crowners" determined in the thread were Robert Pastell, Anthony Ainley, John Cleese, & Julian Glover (who also has Hammer, with one of the Quatermass films). With a couple of potential stretches, we also included Bernard Cribbins (Doctor Who, including the Cushing films and Avengers clearly, plus Casino Royale '67) and a possible grand slam for Kate O'Mara (has the Rani episodes of Doctor Who, both an episode and the stage play for Avengers, two Hammer films, and--the potential stretch--was one of Moneypenny's assistants in the TV special Welcome to Japan, Mr. Bond).

This led to someone proclaiming Christopher Lee (who in terms of this discussion had Hammer, Bond, & Avengers but no DW) the king of the most franchises: Hammer (which we were counting as one large franchise, but of course he had Dracula, Frankenstein, & the Mummy), James Bond, The Avengers, Star Wars, Peter Jackson's Middle Earth films, Indiana Jones (thanks to an episode of Young Indy Chronicles), the Richard Lester Musketeers, Franco's Fu Manchu, and even The Howling, Police Academy, the Witch Mountain series, and Gremlins. He was even in an episode of Charlie's Angels. Lee doesn't have MCU, but he was in one of the two 1970s Captain America tv-movies. I'm not sure I'd call them franchises, but he was in a pair of Sherlock Holmes tv-movies with Patrick Macnee in the early 1990s as well as an episode of Space: 1999. Is there anyone who hits more? Given the span of his career, I think he'd have to be it.

Does anyone span Star Wars, Star Trek, and Doctor Who?

^Lee would certainly be up there, perhaps right at the top. I think you'd have to count his dear friend Peter Cushing high on the list as well, given he was in multiple Hammer productions, the Doctor Who Films, Star Wars, and played Sherlock Holmes (multiple times across different productions).

Yes, Cushing's name had come up in the original thread, as he was also on The Avengers and Space: 1999. He even has a part in a Laurel & Hardy film from early in his career. I'm sorry he was never in a Bond film.

According to Google, Deep Roy was in the Max Reebo Band! So that makes him one too... which is ironic, considering that he played the alien pal of Pegg's Scotty.
