    Toy-Ventures: Space:1999 Eagle 1 by Mattel

This week we take a look at what we consider to be one of the greatest toys of the 1970s, the Mattel Space:1999 Eagle 1 spaceship from 1976.

Based on the popular Gerry Anderson television series, this large, trendsetting toy just begs to brought to a sandbox immediately.PodStallions Facebook Group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/2226244254053126/PlaidStallions Facebook Page:https://www.facebook.com/Plaidstallionsdotcom/For more Fashion Mockery and 70's toy love visit us at Plaid Stallions.com

Truly one of the best of the 70's for sure!

I had a boxed Eagle a few years ago, I wish I had kept it.

I loved that toy and it was the thing I most wanted that Christmas. It worked well with my Matchbox MAC figures.

I loved this ship to death...literally (regretfully). I had the Eagle One, until my mid teens, but it didn't survive the frustrations of an emotionally-abused kid.

I have two more now again, thankfully.

Great pic! One of my all time favorite toys. My parents bought mine while we were at Thrifty's.

I had not seen that prototype 3 pack before. That was wicked. Great video.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

                    I loved this toy!
I got it for xmas, must have been 76. I loved playing with it.
Hated the figures, but loved the Eagle.
Sadly, it took too much 'battle damage' from my woodburning kit.

I feel so left out that I NEVER saw Space: 1999 as a kid. It just wasn't on in my area, as far as I know. And I STILL haven't seen a single episode. I need to change that.

This looks like an awesome toy, and its definitely ahead of the curve. There was a change in the air when vinyl covered cardboard was giving away to plastic...

Look there in the background. It was my brother's as he was the sci fi kid (I was heroes and monsters, evidently). Even then, I envied the poop put of that glorious behemoth.

That was a great toy, I never had one but the kid down the street did and it was fantastic.

I never had it but I did have the Mattel playset for the figure line sadly none of the figures so it became a reble base for my star wars figures
