I recently found my Mego Wayne Foundation that I got for my birthday in 1979. I got it out of my mom's house after she passed away in 2014. And my playset sat at my bachelor pad and in the garage of my new home after I got married. I was ecstatic to learn that I have a super rare item. As I was slowly putting it together, my pet project was forced to a halt. I was missing parts!!! Fortunately, I found a seller on ebay who had all but one missing part I needed. So I have bought the missing parts and look forward to building this grand item. So here is my question. The missing item is a Bat Shield, which I think was used to move the elevator. The ebay seller said that is the rarest piece of them all. So I would like to know from the Mego specialists on here if they could educate me on the Wayne Foundation Bat Shield, in terms of rarity, it's function, why is it so rare, Is there hope of a repro ever being made, etc. You get the idea. Inquiring mind wants to know.

Whatever part you need that isn't available is the rarest.
Some thoughts: I'd be surprised if this is reproduced, but with FTC, who knows? As far as I know, it's the netsuke for the elevator string, and you may eventually find one here, on FB, or ebay. Contacting someone to 3D-print one might be an option. Also, I think you could take the bat off of the grapple of an FTC van and use it as a substitute.
Congratulations on finding an old friend. I love the blue furniture of the foundation.Last edited by PNGwynne; Mar 1, '20, 7:15 PM.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses. -
The elevator pull is the part that's most commonly missing and very difficult to find. I would guess 90% of sets are missing the elevator pull. It attaches to the end of the elevator string that moves the elevator up and down. To disassemble the set, you have to untie the pull from the string to remove the elevator. Its a small, generic piece of grey plastic cut in the shape of the bat symbol with a hole in it. No doubt it would be the first part a child would lose. Its also the part that would most easily fall out of the box. I have never seen one for sale on its own, or even in a small lot of parts. When I was building my set, I had to purchase an entire other set just to get the elevator pull. I have not seen it reproduced.Comment

Are you talking about the elevator handle for the string? if so yeah that one you will only find if you were to buy one still sealed (the ultra rarest). I lost mine after a few months of playing with it. I bought another one off of ebay and that was the only thing missing.
Your best bet is to contact LaserMego and ask if he can come up with a duplicateLast edited by monitor_ep; Mar 1, '20, 10:00 PM.Visit my wiki site:

The Wayne Foundation is such a great item, I never had it but dang, I would have loved it, since I had the mego Batman family
minus Batgirl, my mego Joker would have had a good time going up and down the elevator.
How cool it would have been if mego made the Star Trek enterprise the same way, I would have lost my mind.
my 2020 goal is to try and make an Enterprise setup the in the same way, elevator and all.Comment
