(food thread) Does anybody else here love KIMCHI ?

    I've never had kimchi before.

Heard it referenced on MASH but that's about it.

An Asian market just moved into my Hicks-Burg town so I thought I'd give it a try.

    What -- da --- heck ????

    As a Polish-American cabbage-eating machine I thought I knew what cabbage bliss was ---

On the contrary, this Korean stuff is FANTASTIC !!!

    I'm totally hooked !!!

My mission now is to seek out more older and sour kimchi … I am now on a mission

    Anybody else love Kimchi ?

    Love the stuff.

One of the local Koreans markets kimchi aisles in my hometown...

    Kimchi and beer, mmm...yum...

      Wow !!!

My local shop only has a bottled/canned version and a home-made version

I tried both - and loved them

I’m not much into cabbage, but this sounds intriguing.

Brined, fermented, and seasoned cabbage. I first had it at a sushi bar & loved it. I've never bought it--my understanding is buy it refrigerated as it has active cultures?

It tastes like course cut cole slaw flavored with hot sauce

Weird combo, but it's pretty tasty

I can’t get past the smell!

I do like kimchi fried rice tho.

Not all kimchi are created equal. Some suck. But the good ones are awesome. They varied in heat as well.

I've never had it, but if it's anything like cole slaw (or cooked cabbage, then again...I'm not really a spicy foods fan either), then I'll run the other way...LOL!

I keep a jar on hand and have for some time. I love the taste and that makes it an easy way for me to maintain "gut health". Love to eat it as a side or put it on a hamburger or hot dog. I never eat any for lunch on a workday, though, as it makes one's breath a wee bit offensive.

Cucumber kimchi is really good too.
