    Superfriends vs the Burger Gang

I vividly remember that day in 1976 when I walked into the Eatons (RIP) toy department and saw the Remco McDonaldland Characters right next to the Mego World's Greatest Superheroes, for a brief, nanosecond there was doubt but my love for Superheroes outweighed my love for fast food.

Also, they were sold out of Grimace....

A crossover still waiting to happen- Hulk vs Grimace!! Hulk is strongest. Grimace is fattest!

As much as superheroes easily dominated my life (and toy box), I have to admit I was always drawn to 70's McD's merchandise. I still don't understand why. Why would a kid want to make believe a fast food restaurant? I remember completely Jonesing for a friend's McDonald's Playskool Playset.

    WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.

How on Earth did McD's used to be so cool? Look at the Lawman known as Big Mac. That is one tough cop, walking his beat on 42nd street. Crime does not pay.

It doesn’t seem like me to have wanted the McDonald’s characters, but I must have since I had Ronald and The Hamburler. I do remember trying to have Hulk fight the Hamburgler. I don’t think it went well.

I had a Captain Crook. Somehow I missed getting a Mego pirate and Crook worked just fine as a foe.

I think Captain Crook would have made a very nice adversary for Batman, crime on the high seas. I could easily see Robin tied and gagged walking the plank, while Batman was in a trance eating as many filo-o-fish sandwiches he could before his utility belt burst off.

I had that McDonalds. The best part was the food tray dispenser. Of course as a kid, I would get the trays stuck sideways in there and go crying to my parents to fix it. My Star Wars and GI Joe figures would go there to eat. I still have it. Even have the paper that goes under it. My daughter and her friends enjoyed playing with it when she was around 3-4 yeas old.

I did own a Ronald at one point. I think I scored it at a flea market when I was a kid. I suspect there wasn't much else appealing that day. It's a good figure overall, but it honestly didn't get much play.
