    MeTV Collector's Call--Ralph Garman and Batman '66

Tonight's Collector's Call on MeTv featured Ralph Garman's extensive Batman '66-infuenced collection. Some great rareties, including costumes and props.

He's a Burgess Meredith fan, too and we both have the same favorite episodes: Hizzonnor The Penguin/Dizzonor The Penguin, from season 2 where Pengy runs for mayor.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

Garman's collection is the stuff of legend, and he knows his stuff. I love how he snuck a creator credit for Bill Finger in there. His Adam West impersonation is spot-on as well. A wonderful episode!

I actually gasped when I saw those Clock King and Penguin patches. My partner asked why they were special lol. The costumer in me just loves that stuff. Neat to see the Catwoman belt as well.

The Penguin campaign props always grab my attention, that sandwich board sign was amazing.

^The fact that he found it in an antique shop was equally amazing! Of course the Black Beauty was stored in an old barn for decades, so weirder things have happened to Hollywood props!

What is awesomely coincidental about the discovery of Black Beauty: With the original '30s Green Hornet, the Black Beauty was garaged in an abandoned stable on the Reid estate. Shades of Silver and the Lone Ranger, Britt Reid's grand-uncle.

Garman is a brilliantly funny guy. Loved him on the Kevin & Bean Show.

that was a fun episode. Batman's daughter is rather easy on the eyes. that collection is really something though

Oh yeah, I had forgotten about that! Oh, the irony!

And as for Garman, can he please be DC's "face" instead of Kevin Smith? He hosted the Superman 40th Anniversary screenings through Fathom, and I think maybe he did the '89 Batman, too? I can't recall.

Either way, I'd much rather see him be their MC, because 1) he's actually funny, and 2) he's not a clown ALL the time. Plus he never wrote a comic where Batman peed himself.

Sorry, rant over. I don't hate Smith, but I roll my eyes a bit when he shows up in "I just drank 2 cases of Monster and smoked 4 pounds of weed" mode on this DC special features/CW discussion shows.

Not a fan of Smith but something about Garman just makes me cringe, I can't explain it or justify it but he creeps me out for some reason.

^Hmm, I don't get that at all. He does have that "Radio DJ" persona to a point, but he dialed it way back on this Collector's Call episode, I thought.

If Smith retired from public life tomorrow, I wouldn't be sorry. I wish him no will, but his aged stoner fanboy shctick has really run its course with me.

That's instinct, if you think something is off with him I get it. I appreciate Garman as a collector and champion of Batman 1966 but he is a little dry in the charisma department.

I've listened to their podcast. There's an undeniable chemistry, and plenty of self-deprecating humor. But yikes, I think Garman has some demons. He has shared lots of stories about how great cocaine is for him, and his past relationships with pornstars and swingers clubs. And yet, there's still very much a boy in there who grew up with and adores Batman 66.

^Hmmm. I didn't know that. I guess maybe he's not exactly who DC may want as their spokesman.

After I mentioned my vibe to someone who has worked with him, they began to tell me of "the lifestyle" he enjoyed during that tenure and it made me realize my gut is a spidey sense.

                              Hi all

In case you didn't know, the MeTV website has posted a couple of additional scenes from the Batman collection episode on their website, showing off two more items that weren't seen in the episode. You can find them here:
