I always thought the size was off in the movie comparing the inside and outside.

Was the Icarus an escape pod ? …. or was it the whole ship ?

      BTW, lovely model

        That's great!

I was always under the impression that the full scale mockup was just to represent the nose of the ship, the rest being hidden from view under the lake surface. This was thrown out the window when they reused the prop in subsequent movies, though.

I never got how the cockpit and four hibernation pods and engines and fuel and life support for four people fit in that thing.

Supercool JB! The teenagers at Camp Crystal Lake have no idea what's coming!

The original Icarus concept drawings indicate it was a landing craft (as part of a large launch rocket and fuel source) and capable of re-entry. Subsequently it's been re-imagined as a whole unit by several artists referencing the space technology of the era. It's cool ship with some mystery… NASA should clearly build one soon!

Just found this video … If you FF to 1:03 there's an artists rendition of the inside of the ship … Guessing it's not official

Even in beneath the wreckage is made to simulate more to the ship than we've seen but this was abandoned by "Escape". The TV series at least reduced the ship's interior to match it's exterior.

That ship may well be my favourite space ship design of all time.
