********The Customego Hall of Fame Class of 2020 Announcement********

The Customego Hall of Fame proudly announces it's class of 2020.

Since the very first Mego action figure was produced, they have been customized by children of all ages. Armed with leftover parts, acrylic paints, Sculpey, and the mission to “fill in the gaps” in the lines Mego made legendary, customizers have played a vital role in the hobby reaching its enormous popularity and are the inspiration for the Re-Mego Renaissance we continue to experience today!
The Customego Hall of Fame seeks to recognize and honor these legendary customizers AND customs of the hobby. And, without further adieu it is our honor to present to you the Customego Hall of Fame class of 2020.

John Farley aka Type3Toys John recreates every one of his customego super-heroes, super-villains, and monsters with an incredible accuracy and respect of the character. In his words, he approaches each figure as an "old-world craftsman", and we agree; sculpting, casting and painting each piece by hand as well as designing all patterns and sewing each outfit by machine. This attention to detail led John to perfect what we all know in the hobby as the Type 3 body, a heroic, muscular body with 28 points of articulation. His customs of Spider-man's Rogues Gallery are legendary and are always a "must-see" at the annual Mego Meet. We are honored to inaugurate Customego Customizer John Farley into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2020.

Dave Lepage On the cutting edge of non-superhero customs in the early days of the Mego Museum customs section, Dave's work inspired so many: Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Dead, The Return of the Fly, just to name a few. Not to mention his two-stories tall mad scientist castle complete with dungeon in the basement and operating room up top! And, who can forget that electric chair?! We are honored to inaugurate Customego Customizer Dave LePage into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2020.

Chris Meimann aka Captain Mego To say Chris took the art of customizing to a whole new level would be an understatement. His customs are so iconic in the hobby he is known by his very own brand: Captain Mego. Batman: Dead End, Arkham Asylum Joker, Indiana Jones, and Green Arrow are fan favorites, but in the team photo of greatest customegos of all-time, his Iron Man and War Machine customs sit proudly in the front row. We are honored to inaugurate Customego Customizer Chris Meimann into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2020.

Ed Nagy If you can find a more Megoesque customizer than Ed Nagy, we would sure like to meet him. Ed follows the “What would Mego do?” narrative and is always able to answer that question through his customs. Ed was the originator of designing suits on his computer and printing directly on fabric. A revolutionary moment in the history of customegos. He was also the Mego Museum's very first “Customizer of the Month” in May of 2006. We are honored to inaugurate Customego Customizer Ed Nagy into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2020.

Figures Toy Company In business since 1989, selling vintage toys and manufacturing licensed professional wrestling merchandise, 2004 saw Figures Toy Company introduce classictvtoys.com and begin manufacturing classic Mego-like 8 inch action figures and accessories. They licensed and produced new Megoesque action figure lines for Married With Children, I Love Lucy, and The Munsters; recreated the Mego Legends lines of American West heroes, Robin Hood, Super Pirates, and Super Knights; created a new line (and line extensions with characters we've longed for) of Happy Days figures; AND begin to produce endless amounts of reproduction AND original Mego action figure parts and accessories in every color imaginable. It is difficult to find a Mego customizer since that has not used something from Figures Toy Company to complete a custom. We are honored to inaugurate Customego Contributor Figures Toy Company into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2020.

Legends of Gotham City by Roberto Williams selected by Scott Arendsen The truest example of a living custom project, Legends of Gotham City is the brainchild of Roberto Williams. Those who saw his original display at Mego Meet 2016 were in complete awe of the level of detail put into each action figure and each playset/diorama. A true tribute to the Dark Knight, his allies, his Rogues Gallery, and to Gotham City itself, Roberto's Legends of Gotham City has set the bar for customego passion projects. We are honored to inaugurate the Legends of Gotham City by Roberto Williams into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2020.

Mobile Cap Lab, Iron Man Van, and Green Goblin Van by Tim Arnold selected by Austin Hough The inspiration for the recent Figures Toy Company DC Comics' line of vans, Tim Arnold took customizing to a whole new level by tackling the uncharted waters of Mego vehicle customizing. These Mego Mobile Bat Lab conversions had everything a kid would expect to be in a mobile operations van for the shield slinger, 'ol Shellhead, and GG: computers, missile and shield launchers, costume changing action, a roof-mounted pulsar ray, and even a goblin glider. And, painted in their distinctive color schemes, they are the dreams of every child of the '70s. We are honored to inaugurate the Mobile Cap Lab, Iron Man Van, and Green Goblin Van by Tim Arnold into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2020.

The Woggles by Austin Hough selected by David Lee A true group effort, Austin gathered resources far and wide to pull off the most daring project of his customizing career culminating with pictures from the photo-shoot being used for the band's greatest hits album. The journey Austin took to complete this project is as compelling as the set of finished figures themselves. We are honored to inaugurate the The Woggles by Austin Hough into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2020.

Dungeons and Dragons by Dana M Smith “Danadoll” selected by Scott Pierce To simply quote Scott regarding these figures, “When it comes to a customizer and a series of inter-connected themes and a unified concept I daresay this is my all-time favorite. Taking a line of characters from an 80s product and bringing them to Mego life is daunting, but you nailed every one of these. Your love of craft is obvious and your skills and vision are elite. I'm a fan who loves these customs.” We are honored to inaugurate the Dungeons & Dragons by Dana Smith into the Customego Hall of Fame, Class of 2020.

The inductees will be honored with a special internet presence on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheCustomegoHallofFame/ showcasing the customs and customizers enshrined.

The Customego Hall of Fame class of 2020 induction ceremony and dinner is planned for all honorees at a new location, the Marriott Columbus Northwest, the Thursday night immediately preceding the Mego Meet at the Marriott Courtyard Columbus West.

Tickets for the event can be purchased for $30 each by going to paypal.me/CustomegoHallOfFame and using the gift option. Dinner will include a three course meal with your choice of: Chicken Bruschetta or Vegetarian Pasta Alfredo. In addition, EVERY paid attendee gets a “customizer goodie bag” courtesy of Classic TV Toys and Figures Toy Company complete with new S male, or female, body.

Honorees were chosen by the Customego Hall of Fame panel of Austin Hough, David Lee, Scott Pierce, and Scott Arendsen. Individual inductees require a three-fourths majority vote to be enshrined, while each voting member has one non-veto-able vote for an individual custom's inclusion.

The goal of the Customego Hall of Fame is to honor customizers and customs that have made an undeniable impact on the Mego customizing hobby. Inductees are chosen by the Customego Hall of Fame panel on an annual basis and announced at the beginning of each year with a ceremony and dinner immediately preceding that year's Mego Meet and inclusion in the online Customego Hall of Fame.

Please join the us in welcoming the third annual class of Mego customizers and customs into the Customego Hall of Fame!
