Have 8" DC figures actually been confirmed, or is it just a rumor?

Sorry if this has been addressed already...couldn't find any confirmation one way or another.

Are the 8" DC figures definitely happening, or is it simply a rumor that hasn't been confirmed?

There are statements saying both all over FB.

Unless there has been a contrary statement from Paul or Joel that I missed, they are happening. Anyone else's opinion wouldn't have much merit.

Some of the confusion stems from Mego Meet and the idea that they would be there for Christmas. Seeing as we were shown designs that were pending licensor approval in June, that wasn't a safe bet.

        Hopefully, toyfair provides some clarity.

I'm no authority, but in addition to what Brian said (who is an authority), the DC figures, not yet licensor approved, were shown with other figures which have since been released. So, yes, they are real and are coming.

Does anyone know if these 8-inch DC Mego figures will be similar to the FTC DC figures (although better quality of course) or will they be completely new designs? Just curious because FTC DC figures, especially those same characters released by Mego in the 1970s and early 1980s, are much if not exactly the same looks-wise. I would love to be able to get actual Mego figures once again that look like the ones I had as a kid. Also, I much prefer 1970s and 1980s DC to anything from the 1990s up to the modern day. It was just such a classic time in DC's history that has never been recaptured in the comics or any other medium since.

They’re all new sculpts and I believe the designs will be based on the animated Justice League show.

Of course, some things could have changes since last June.

I hope things have changed. The animated Justice League show was great, but that's not the sort of style I would want in Mego format. I know FTC has done some based on the Super Friends style, but even those don't blend in 100 per cent with the other figures on the shelf because of their cartoon-like design.

They looked fantastic in person and I personally really hope that aesthetic remains.

They’re not going to be animated style. They’re going to use the costume design and character design from the show, but realistic in style.

So was that a Mego choice? I'm wondering if things have gotten so slice-n-diced that you can pick specific eras. So FTC has Superfriends, Filmation and Super Powers, but TAS was left open.

                        Sorta like....

I'm fairly sure that was Mego's choice, but I don't really know the specifics. I guess the idea is to appeal to the now grown up kids that watched that show...as well as us old fogeys!

Most of the designs aren't very far from their iconic looks. Superman is basically unchanged.

^Yeah, they're streamlined classic DC looks, which to me is perfect for Mego.

...but I better not see jumpsuit Luthor until Wave 52...

It would be neat if they got the OK to produce DC figures based off the CW TV shows... actor likenesses, costume designs, etc. That would be cool in addition to making additional figures in the classic 70s and 80s DC style.
