    Action Star (Germany)

As a kid, I bought many GI Joes, but they were expensive army builders.

Here in Europe, we had Action Star from Germany as an affordable replacement.
They had all the army and adventurer outfits, but at 1/5th of the cost. Downside was that their elastics were terrible, and they fell apart quickly, which probably explains why they are quite rare. Last year, I found a whole pile of body parts in my garage (don't ask), and started restringing my long-lost friends. As outfits are hard to come by, I decided to make custom clothing, 70s style, for some of them.
These are my latest ones, shirts, accessories and trousers by me...

Way cool! I was not aware of these. Those outfits are So 70s. Awesome skills. They look great.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Thanks for the words of praise, really appreciate it.
These were fun to make, looking for good patterns, the prints, etc. Buying original outfits is above my paygrade!

Here are some of the original surviving outfits from my childhood...

Great job with clothes very 1970s! I have had a few Action Star Hardiy figures over the years now they're to high to replace. This was a great toy line. My understanding is these were made before Action Team was released in Germany. They do have some cool sets with some coping/inspired by Gijoe. They have tons of sets in this line. The Formula Racecar set and driver are faves!

Like others, I'm unfamiliar with the line, but, like others, I had to comment on amazing those outfits are. They look right out of the Eleganza Catalog of the early 70's. And yes, they seem like they's fit right into F.O.O.M! (Friends of Ol' Mantooth).

Bruce, is my all-time favorite black headsculpt. I am a GIJoe collector, but Action Star did it just a bit better, I think.

His pal, Hardy (with the green jungle outfit) always reminded me of Lee Majors.

And yes, two of them are called Oliver & Hardy.

And thanks for liking my sewing efforts. I've done quite a bit of custom work lately, getting back into the groove!
