The Star Trek Metal Detection Probe

I've written about this item before, a working metal detector with the Star Trek logo slapped on it but now, thanks to collector Dan Simpson, we're able to get a nice close up look at it. Join me won't you?

First of all, as you can see, it's pretty darn small, like "Twiki Small".

The manufacturer is a company called "Jetco" not something I'm terribly familiar with. This is clearly a catalog box, I wonder if there is one for retail with graphics?

Pretty standard instructions, they lose some marks for not making that kid's ears pointy.

Ah, the official logo of the Enterprise but not one mention of the words "Star Trek" giving this a little bit of authenticity.

If lost please contact Montgomery Scott.

Thanks to Dan for sharing this wonderful bit of joy.,

I agree, I like the way the indicia are presented, it makes it seem to me as if it's a piece of Federation equipment and not a "Star Trek" toy. The belt clip is nice, too.

Hey, that's kind of nice. And I have to wonder if someone at Jetco didn't recognize the similarities to the head of their detector and the saucer of the Enterprise and say "Hey!!!".
