A quick way to spend $500 but well worth it.

Well, as some of you know a cat I had for 16 years pasted away about 2 years ago. Feb. 07 I replaced him with a newborn kitten. I named him Sour Patch after the candy. At first he's kind of mean and will bite at you then he's sweet and will give you a bath, hence his name and he's been a great cat over the past year. About a week ago he got into a fight with another cat and had a wound to the corner of his eye (or so I thought). I didn't think too much about it but watched it. Last Tuesday it started bleeding so I took him to a vet. The vet said he had an abscessed wound above his eye and his eye was scratched so bad that it needed to come out asap but until then the vet put him on antibiotics. After a day I contacted a vet who cold do the surgery with a laser to make it easier for the cat and quicker to heal. He said the eye should stay for now because the cat still has some vision in it but he needed stitches, more medicine and some work done to and around the eye. So today things seem to be going much better and with any luck will continue to do so without the eye being permantly removed. I give you Sour Patch before and after! While the pic may look bad it's nothing compared to what it looked like a few days ago. In the end I'd happily (ok, maybe not happily) hand over the money again. Watch those cat fights because they can cost you!

Oh my gosh! Poor Sour Patch! D=

And I'm sorry about your other cat, even if it has been a few years! I just recently (few weeks ago) lost one of mine due to cancer, and it really is a punch to the stomach to loose something so precious. I would gladly give up 5k and more to get my cat back. Money really looses it's value in a time like that. )=

Let's just be thankful this ordeal wasn't life threatening to Sour Patch! He's such a cute cat!

Thats one of the reasons my guy stayed as a indoor cat. Never had to have a operation in his 17 years. (other than to be fixed)

That looks nasty. Hope he heals well glad he kep the eye.

Glad they could save the eye. I know the 5er hurts, but I'm sure it was a no brainer for you.

Yep, pets are worth it... I once traded an original Hallmark Star Trek Ornament (Vet was into Trek) to have Luey's allergy test done (was going to cost $400) , found out he was allergic to pretty much dog food was made from... it was Chicken, Rice and Cabbage (his favorite) from then til his passing...

I tamed a wild cat that used to scrap, glad she never got real hurt...

Hope Sour Patch feels better soon!

Oh, I hope so much that his eye heals, and that maybe he even learned from the experience. Crossing my fingers for him, poor little sweetie.

Hi T and Sour Patch (Poor Baby!) I would hate to see what the other cat looked like when Sour Patch was through with it. I hope that Sour Patch got in some pretty good licks on the other cat for doing that nasty deed to Sour Patch. I hope that all goes well with the surgery and recovery. The money was indeed well spent. You have a great companion/pet. I also regret to hear about the loss of your other cat. That really sucks! I have six cats myself and I always think how I am going to react when and if one of them should pass when their respected time comes. It is a lousy feeling as you may already know first hand. It must be like losing a family member. Thanks for being a great and responsible pet owning by doing the right thing. I wish everyone was like you and understanding the needs of their pets. Please keep us posted on Sour Patch's condition. Get well soon Sour Patch!
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009

Tim, Sour Patch is one lucky cat. Eight more lives to go...Yes, those cat scratches can abcess pretty quick because of the way the wound is afflicted. I would have done the same.
