"Just One More Thing..." - Lt. Columbo

Hey everyone! For Christmas this year, I decided to get my dad something that I have always thought would make for a great custom figure, but never had the skills or knowledge to do so until now... that being, Lt. Frank Columbo!

My dad has been a huge fan of Peter Falk's portrayal of the character since he was young, and the love for the show has continued throughout his life--even spreading to me! I am very. very excited to see what he thinks of my gift!

The head, like my other customs, was 3D-printed and painted by me--as was Columbo's classic cigar. The clothes were from CTVT, with some minor adjustments to the internal sleeves to fit those darn things into the overcoat

Additionally, the figure will be presented to my dad on a cardback, in the packaging. This is one of the first card designs I've done, and I really wanted to replicate what it might have looked like if Mego had made a Columbo figure back then!

Let me know what you all think of him! I've been wanting to make a custom Mego Columbo figure for my dad for around 5 or 6 years, and I am so, so happy I was finally able to!

What a fun gift! The 5 o'clock shadow is a nice touch because I always remember him as being a bit disheveled.

Great figure. The head is really terrific. I know Mego has gone away from the TV figures, but this one seems like it would work great for them. Your dad is going to love him!

Curious: did you try just going with the dress shirt & trenchcoat and losing the suit jacket? I admire you finding a way to make all the sleeves work.

Also, it would be cool to give him a little notepad. One of the tips I learned here... maybe from Paul Wasson... is an easy way to make books is to cut down a Post-It Note pad.

As you can tell, you really got my mind racing with this figure! He is very very cool.

Thanks for the grea comments, guys! Your insight and feedback is the reason I love making figures like these! I'll always appreciate being around such veterned Mego men like yourselves!

And sprytel, I ended up having to cut off the sleeves for both the suit jacket and the undershirt to get them to fit under the coat--and even then, the leftover fabric still attached to the shoulders gave me slight fitting issues. If I were to do it again, I'd probably use a seam ripper to better remove the sleeves.

Well, now there is a custom I have not seen before!

That really is quite terrific. In retrospect, I’m surprise no one ever released any Colombo

                        Great custom
Warm up?! We may as well sit around this cigarette!

Nice. I was hoping to have created some Mego heads on my 3D print also but keep slacking off. Ha. Hopefully your 3D head will motivate me to get things going LOL.
