    Your Iconic Local Commercial

Today's local commercials are produced much more professionally than when we were kids. But it was just that lack of professionalism that made them stick out and become part of your childhood. You know the ones that only ran on the independent stations during the day during reruns of McHale's Navy or Bewitched.

So what was in your corner of the world.

In Philly, we had an aptly named clothing store called Krass Bothers. They ran these low-budget, obnoxious 10-second commercials centered around a stupid pun. The spokesman, surrounded by sexy? women, would say "If you don't buy your clothes from Krass Brothers, you're all wet!" And then someone would throw a bucket of water on him. They did these for over a decade!

    WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.

    Great Thread !!!

My pick is a classic Punkin and Homer ABE Car-Care-Center commercial from Channel 69 (Allentown PA)

They made many and every one was corny to the point of being embarrassing

    BTW, PA accents are real

Here's a current modern local commercial from a local cash-for gold place

      It's pretty good

As a kid growing up in Tampa, the first thing that popped in my head was Allied Discount Tires. This one doesn't feature his catch phrase "tires ain't pretty", but it was too good not to share...

The jingle is imprinted into my brain forevermore.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

              I love this thread!

The first thing that sprang to mind was Buddy's Carpet. Ol' Buddy was a fixture on the Lexington, KY and Cincinnati, OH channels we got (we're smack dab in the middle of both cities). He used to irritate the crap out of my Dad.

One of the more fun things about growing up in Toronto is that SCTV would parody all this stuff despite it being so local.

I remember Buddy! For me it's also Fred Ricart "We're Dealin'"

Fred Ricart was a car dealer in Columbus Ohio during the '80s. His commercials were always entertaining, as he played guitar, sang, and performed crazy antic...

Right? And a cool version of the Hefti theme.

I consider these "Local" too, despite Lake Ontario.
