    Pod Stallions: John Carpenter

Seeing as it's Halloween, what better time to discuss one of the most influential directors of our youth, John Carpenter.

We discuss how we discovered his work, chronologically going through the body of work, discussing the good, the bad and the seriously underrated pieces in his filmography.

We sidetracked a little bit but anyone who listens to us knows how we do.

We hope you enjoy and have a happy Halloween!

Please give us spirited debate in our new Facebook group.

YES! I just watched the Fog last night. Talk about underrated. Sometimes I enjoy it better than Halloween. (It's essentially a live action version of Garfield's Halloween). Doesn't hurt that it blends the cast of Halloween with the cast of Creepshow.

It's slightly too..... frenetic for me, I feel the same about Buckaroo Banzai which is one of Jason's favourite movies.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Another great podcast. Thank you. I'm going to have to give Prince of Darkness a viewing. I haven't seen it, but you two convinced me. I remember reading once that Carpenter said he wanted to make westerns but started making movies too late, so he just made westerns in the films he did create. Both Vampires and Ghost of Mars have that vibe in some ways, and of course Assault on Precinct 13 is a resetting of Rio Bravo, as you all mention. Escape from New York even has that feel, and Snake Plissken is the ultimate gunslinger hero.

                Happy Halloween!

Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.
