    Halloween In A Box (trailer)

Before the days of elaborate Halloween costumes, there were costumes in a box. Remember them? We seemingly all wore these costumes as kids. Now hear the story behind these costumes and the history of the big three companies that made them, Ben Cooper Inc, Halco, and Collegeville. For years, these costumes were a beloved Halloween institution dating back in the 1930s. In 1982 at the height of their popularity, the first case of domestic terrorism, the Tylenol Scare shook the United States and threatened to cancel Halloween forever. In an effort to save the holiday, the costume giants, although rivals in business, were forced to come together and unify or trick or treating would become extinct. Will be available on select streaming networks October 1, 2019. For more information visit: www.HNNProductions.net

Looks very interesting, I loved those style of costumes and often used them as playsuits. I even had the deluxe Ben Cooper Batman playsuit.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

I’ve been spending a lot of time of late reminiscing about old Ben Cooper costumes so this trailer is well timed.
I’ll check this out. Thanks for sharing.

Batman was my go to costume

I remember having the Batman costume and then got the utility belt to add to it. I wore that has a play outfit long after Halloween. Then there was that time in Kindergarten were I wore The Bat costume instead of Batman.

          Home made costumes

Later on my mother made costumes for my brother and I thanks to McCalls & Simplicity, to be truthful those lasted longer and withstood the washing machine better.

I'll make a note to watch this.

These were a big part of my childhood and I can remember right now the smell of those vinyl costumes as I sit here typing this.

I remember how sweaty your face got under those masks.
I wore the Six Million Dollar Man costume one year, and the next year, I painted the mask and changed him into Luke Skywalker.

The first Ben Cooper costume I ever had was Spider-Man. Great memories.

I have a lot of nostalgia for these. I think if they were rereleased in adult sizes, of course at Halloween time, they may be a big hit. Look forward to seeing this doc!

Very interested to see this. Of course I had Ben Cooper costumes. I either wore the whole suit, or part of it, with my Mom custom-making the rest. I remember the stacks of boxes at our local Ben Franklin, with the Beistle Halloween decorations hanging everywhere. Wonderful memories.

Interested in this, but wish it was a bit more professionally done. Subjects not using a mic, Skype interviews... Seems a bit amateur from the trailer. Hoping the final product looks a bit more polished.

Just finished watching Halloween in a Box on Amazon Prime and it does bring you back to those days of picking out the costume based on a box. I was disappointed that it seems more fan film style and not filmed in studio interviews with proper sound. All in all it is a good behind-the-scenes of the Halloween costumes.

Here is a link to the book: 13 Great Ways To Celebrate Halloween

To me this documentary seems like a must watch for members here.

Is this still on Amazon Prime? I looked last night and could find nothing on it.

I had to dig to find it but it should be there. I wish I had known about it, I would have loved to have contributed some better reference materials.

It was decent, the only thing I would have added was a section on some of the more...lamentable costume choices of the time.
