Your Top 5 Epic Movies list ...

This is not necessarily a top 5 favorite movies thread ….

These movies are extra special … They must be watched in full at one sitting

You put the kids to bed and even turn off your phone

If this movie is playing on TV and you catch it part way through you REFUSE to watch it ..

Watching these movies are an event not to be ruined by edits, overwatching or commercial breaks.

This is your quiet time -- time to forget all your daily problems and be engrossed in a movie you love.

My list (not in any order)

-- It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

    -- The Black Hole

    -- The Great Escape

    "Magnificent Seven"
    "The Great Escape"
    "Bullitt"
    "The French Connection"
    "Yojimbo"

There are a few others that might rotate into my Top 5 depending on when you ask me. There's some kind of connections and similarities, to me, between all of the movies I find "Epic" (as you have defined the term here). With a very few exceptions, the ones I'd list would be (generally) made before I was born or when I couldn't have gone to the movies on my own.

My list is a bit narrow in scope and potentially says a lot about my poor film taste

      A Few Good Men

Star Trek (the new one with Chris Pine)

      The Fifth Element

      Predator

      Big Trouble in Little China

Not exactly epic in a literal sense except to me lol.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

          Goodfellas
          Pulp Fiction
          Blade Runner
          Enter the Dragon

I’ll probably change my mind in a couple of those and think of more, lol...

^ Goodfellas, Godfather and Casino used to be on my list but in the last 20-ish years they've been so overplay on TV I can hardly watch them now.

I’m tired of Godfather. Was never a huge Casino fan. Sharon Stone is so annoying. The ending is awesome though, lol.

Goodfellas I can watch over and over again...although Pulp Fiction is more fun.

I will never get tired of ALIEN and Aliens. Seen them over 100 times each. I’m going to see them again this weekend, lol.

I would have listed either of these except that I can watch them in chunks and not feel like I needed to see them from beginning to end.

These aren’t in any particular order and are not my top five favorite movies, but I think they’re are amount the top five EPIC movies of all time.

                        Gone With The Wind

                        Citizen Kane

                        The Wizard of Oz

                        Star Wars

                        The Godfather

Yep... Raiders and Jaws would be on my list too. I’d place the Star Wars OT on that list also.

Those are special movies to me and if I see one while I’m channel surfing, my inner dialogue goes something like, “no... don’t watch it now. Wait and watch the whole thing so you can enjoy it.

I’m that way with the Hammer movies too.

Not completely sure on a list, but definitely the LOTR trilogy.

Clash of the Titans, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Seven Samurai, Dr. Zhivago, Citizen Kane, perhaps.

In thinking this over, I realize that I like a lot of "B" films that I personally do not consider "epic."
