    Star Wars Barbie

They could have just done literal translations of the Star Wars movie characters, but instead they did these bonkers interpretations that I think are (dare I say) out of this world.

Probably the closest they can get with Hasbro having the license for the characters. I like the Leia homage. The other two don't really work for me as much. I still give Mattel a lot of credit for trying something really different with the license.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I thought you were joking, but now after seeing them, I like them. Better looking and more personality than Funkos IMO and just the right size for collecting, too. I would buy them if they could get some licenses to my favorite TV characters.

Even if they could do straight character dolls, I wonder if they would right now, since Forces of Destiny unfortunately didn't go over as well as they had hoped.

Yea I have no idea how it happened either but it seems to be a real thing.

I'm into 1/3 scale dolls. I'm kinda used to high prices on these things.

But I got sticker shock over these Star Wars homage Barbies. Are these abnormally priced for these kinds of releases? Or mostly in line with how Mattel does things?

That said, I like them all in one way or another.

I want R2D2, but not at that price. I like mecha musune type things even though I haven't ever collected that kind of stuff. I think the outfit they gave her just hits all the right checkmarks. I'm not entirely loving the blue square over the eye, but I understand it.

Leia looks great. I love her shoes. The overall look they gave her really screams Princess.

And then Darth Vader. I don't like the sunglasses, but take them off and the whole package just kicks tail. She is definitely a dark side bombshell. The dark side is definitely more seductive.

                      ---

Note: When I first saw these, they were priced at $190. It seems the price has been reduced on BBTS to $110. That's a bit more reasonable.
