    Stranger Things 4 speculation (SPOILERS on 1 2 & 3)

If you haven't watched or finished Seasons 1 to 3 and don't want potential spoilers TURN BACK!!!!!

I can't talk about what I think might happen without giving away stuff from what has happened.

"Not the American" is what the Russian guard says at the end.
    Who is it?
We did not see Hopper after the explosion. I hope it is him.
It appears Dr. Brenner was killed by a demagorgon in season 1, but in 2 the lab guy insists Brenner isn't dead. With that foreshadowing, it is more likely him.
Billy was giving a heroic farewell. The creature had been in him and he was artificially alive for a time. Wouldn't the russians be interested in keeping him alive and studying him?
What about 8 - who was oddly missing from this season.
Who else could it be? I suppose with a sci-fi show where aliens and monsters can reanimate people, anything can happen.

Ooooh yeah. That makes perfect sense. That explains the missing hopper and confirms the foreshadowing of Dr Brenner still being alive.

Chewing on this some more. How about this for a totally crazy theory... The Duffer Brothers love to borrow from 80s movies. They have mined most of the Spielberg catalog. So maybe they go "Last Crusade"... and the "American" is Kurt Russell as Hopper Sr. He rescues his son (or vice versa). Advenure and zaniness ensue.

(I don't think it would actually happen, but I'd totally watch that!)

          Very interesting.

It sounds like a lot of fun.

I wonder what they will take from 1986.

Something that was really big that year, I suppose, but it will still have to link up with the story.

The Transformers: The Movie, maybe, even though they didn't seem to have Transformers in their lives, but the characters would probably be motivated by the movie.

And having '11' in 1986 with no powers, will create chances for new skills.

They will all gain Experience Points like their Dungeons & Dragons characters and be able to do new things to heroically fight The Upside Down and Cosmic Beyond!

I agree with you guys. I just finished 3 last night.

At first I thought Hopper, but why would the Russians keep him? Brenner makes more sense and explains how the Russians knew so much.

They can easily bring back Hopper. They can say he's stuck in the Upside Down. Elle just needs her powers back so she can find him, right?

I thought it was Hopper too. I was wondering if the Russians hadn't somehow figured out how to use the gate technology to teleport, which would help explain how they disappeared so quickly from the compound. Maybe Hopper accidentally disappeared, but the used similar tech to do the same, then found him wounded on the other end?

                That would be cool.

I would love that to become part of the story.
