Back then TVs were a big part of the furniture in a house.

I remember fondly the huge "console" TV we had. In fact, it we had it for most of the 70's. The TV centered the unit that also included a turntable, radio and space to put albums. It went with all the other Spanish-themes dark wood furniture in our living room.

So much so, that my great aunt had a console TV that was used as a stand for a portable TV down in the basement. (which was where I watched TV when I stayed there)
