Mad Monsters Frankenstein joins the Mummy!

Scored my second type 1 Mad Monster this week!

He was still MIB, sealed inside his crinkly plastic bag...mine were the first human hands to touch him since he left the factory in 1973.

    Two down, two to go!

Nice! Those are great figures. My all time fav Megos. Very charming and old school child friendly spooky.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I think there may be no beating the originals, as seen here. It’s the charm factor. They have it in spades. I say all of that with no nostalgia involved as I was not aware of these figures, at all, until more recent years. I was born in 1974 and these were completely off of my radar. On top of that, I’m not especially a monster person. That said, seeing these figures, I can understand the appeal. They’ve got the “it” factor.

I cannot believe that they still glow-in-the-dark, great figures!!!

I also do not remember these being out. I did buy the Universal Monsters version that "hugged" there victim.

The sweet minty mintitude of mintiness!

I love the Mad Monsters. And I say that looking through the thick prescription rose-colored glasses of nostalgia. When I compare this mummy to the picture of the new, awesomely detailed mummy of wave 7, I still love everything about the original.

As much as I love the new Mego Lugosi Dracula and Egyptian Mummy, I have to admit I have a real soft spot for screen printed suits.

I would love to see new Mego do a second series of Mad Monsters with screen printed outfits.

Great pic, Dwayne. It is fun to release a vintage toy, isn't it? I have a carded Love Boat Isaac that I bought specifically for my Cantina Playset. I'm enjoying him on the card for a while, but soon he will be removed.
