Since it's a novelty song thread, I thought I'd post this to entertain those who love Dr. Demento...

I also remember the Dr. Demento show on Sunday nights, I thought it was Q107 but I'm not sure. I had a Disco Duck record, I think it was on a compilation of novelty songs. Mr. Show did a great parody of this subject...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JP1bg1R5XQc

Paul McCartney's "Magneto and Titanium Man" springs to mind.

          And Steve Martin's "King Tut".
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

Yeah - the lines between comedy and music were much more blurred in the 70s, and seemingly in every genre. Lots of silly disco stuff, but even country guys like Johnny Paycheck instantly come to mind. Did Cheech and Chong ever make it onto non-comedy charts?

Then there was a whole 70s trend of raunchy sex comedy music. My main interest in that is the original dirty rapper Blowfly, but there's also Rudy Ray Moore. I was able to see Blowfly perform live a couple of times before he passed away a few years ago. It's very interesting how their stuff was outside the conventional music industry and ended up having such a strong influence on rap/hip-hop which in turn has completely changed the face of mainstream music.

Speaking of Dickie Goodman, I used to have his Kong parody song on 45 when I was a kid...

it charted at #38 in '77.

I also had CB Savage by Rod Hart on '45, and Disco Duck by Rick Dees.

Not sure if they charted, but the were popular enough that my folks could find the '45 at a place like Bradlees to buy it for me, and they usually only carried the hits.

When that meme was going around a while back asking what song was #1 on the Billboard charts on the day you were born, I found out "Kung Fu Fighting" was MY song. Which I think is really cool, because I legitimately love that song!

I think it was replaced by "Sex with Sue" when I turned 14 or maybe I just had more interest in that subject matter.
Absolutely loved Theatre Of The Mind when I was a kid. Here's a great resource for listening to some of the oldies:
