    $1.99...if only!!!

I think the WGSH gets overlooked by a lot of these toy history books and documentaries. It was HUGE in the 70s and very important to a whole generation of kids.

It does, it gets overshadowed by Star Wars a lot and while that's somewhat understandable, it gets old.

It totally changed the game for a number of reasons, my personal favourite was they added bad guys, which was really rare and later became the norm.

A lot of histories want to go from 12" Joe to Star Wars, and ignore the decade in-between, which is a shame. You miss WGSH, the other Mego output, Big Jim, SMDM, and Evel Kneivel, for instance.

For me, Mego action figures were as big or influential as Star Wars...mainly the WGSH line including the CAH and Pocket Heroes.

Mego was better than GI Joe's and Star Wars in my opinion. I turned 10 in 1973, perfect age to enjoy all of the Mego goodness. I never cared about 12" figures that much. The 8" Mego and LJN figures we're my favorites with Mego being much better quality than LJN. I loved looking at stores through all of the Mego's whenever I went shopping with my mom. Great times!

It's weird that Lloyd's was trying to push the dolls based on how well they are selling. Were they trying convince kids that they needed to get in on what "everybody's doing" to be cool? Or maybe telling parents "Hey, this is what the kids want these days."

It's actually just Mego's 1973 ad to the trade cut in half.
