RIP Roky Erikson (13th Floor Elevators) dead at 71

It's really sad hearing this. A very creative songwriter and the 13th Floor Elevators was a groundbreaking psychedelic rock (the first band to call themselves this and I believe the band that coined the phrase) and garage rock band. The poor guy went through a lot of problems though, the documentary about him, "You're Gonna Miss Me" is fascinating but very depressing. RIP Roky.

EDIT: Dammit, I spelled his last name wrong in my thread title, should be "Erickson". If someone could fix I'd appreciate it. I'm slapping myself in the head now...

Sad news. Helped create and influence future Texas psychedelic artists and scene. There was a festival held in his honor a while back and he played along with The Black Angels. Wish I could have attended. RIP Roky.
