I really liked it. I kept thinking, though, that it would be revealed the girl was cloned from Hillary Swank or something, because she looked like a younger version of her. I didn't understand why Mother killed the woman, though, since she helped the girl grow up into the responsible person Mother wanted her to be. It was almost as if the AI had developed feelings.

I would say Mother kills the woman because she had served her purpose and wasn’t needed any more. Mother clearly wants a completely fresh reboot of the human species, so no loose ends.
