Checking the fit, hang, and action posing capability of my pattern for BATGIRL’s turtleneck-closure cape.

As with all my cape patterns, this one has a fitted shoulder seam that allows for a proper elegant drape upon the figure when the cape is at rest.

Nice use of a Gracie figure. That cape is fantastic.

              Thanks Jedijaida.

Gracie was kind enough to assist with the modeling and stand-in fitting of the Batgirl cape since her size and measurements are very similar to the recently-unveiled 9Art custom female body I’ve developed... which will be used on custom Batgirl as well as custom Catwoman and custom Harley Quinn.

What material did you use for the cape? In the picture it looks like leather or at least pleather.

It is indeed a very fine grain 2-way stretch faux leather... the exact same one I used for The Batman’s costume.

It always made sense to me that The Batman would approach his costuming in a very primitive, tribal... almost Shaman-like fashion: His final uniform would appear as if he had slain a huge BAT-beast in mortal hand to hand combat, and then used it’s leathery skin to fashion protective garments for himself. His new warrior “combat gear” would feature protection for his back (massive wings-like cape), and protection for hands, feet, and privates (gauntlets, boots and trunk). And like the aforementioned tribal Shaman Warrior, he would wear the hollowed-out upper cranium of the slain beast as an honorary head dress and head combat protection (cowl).

Naturally, all of Those garments would have a shiny, leathery texture to them. That black leathery texture would also serve as effective camouflage against the dark rain-slick streets and buildings of Gotham.

Having said all of that, it made sense to me that through her father’s affiliations with The Dark Knight, the intrepid young librarian (with the photo-scopic memory) BARBARA GORDON would have opportunity at some point to closely observe the specific textures and details employed in The Batman’s uniform.

When defiantly embarking upon her own career as the costumed vigilante BATGIRL, I imagined that her approach to costuming would be to MATCH the textures and general style of The Batman’s uniform pretty closely.

What do you plan for the boots? Will they be sensible flats with treaded soles or spindly high heels?

Never really cared for high heels on female crime fighters. I know its kind of a given on certain glamorous female characters like Wonder Woman and Black Canary. But I see Gotham as a decidedly UN-glamorous place where even costumed females keep it PRACTICAL. No heels for Harley Quinn, Catwoman or Batgirl.

After much deliberating (and failed alternatives) it looks like Zica Yvonne with re-rooted “librarian style” red hair (LOL!) has been cast as my custom Barbara Gordon and custom Batgirl figures. I will re-paint her eyes and lips to make her even prettier.

Here’s Babs enjoying her new “athletic female” bod courtesy of 9Art.

I'm just catching up here and I am super exicted to see how she turns out. The ladies of Gotham have always been some of my favorites and Batgirl is at the top of that list. Looking fantastic so far! Your attention to detail and creativity is pretty damn amazing! Keep the pics coming!
