In the first place, why some people get there jollies bad mouthing this site is beyond me, it's a freakin toy and collectible
site, it's 70's memory lane, with some great creative projects from such gifted talented people that meet once a year at a location to buy/sell and talk Mego shop, how this negatively effects others boggles the mind, some people just need to chill out and get a life, misery loves company, and clearly these facebook losers must have their own personal issues and need to vent on others to make themselves feel important because in reality their miserable and there negitive comments about this
    forum is insignificant and unimportant.

I could possibly understand if this was basically a political Q&A discussions site, were there's more mud slinging than the
presidential debates every 4 years. I am not on Facebook and never will be, I have heard it can turn into major taboo
    so that I don't need.

As far as being unable to log into the museum site, it's already happend to me, I just simply contacted an administrator
and I was given a new password. If your unable to contact an administrator, the option I would take is contacting Dr. Mego
at his online store and leave a message, I'm sure he would be able to help you out.

Dr. Mego is not a mod and is rarely on here so that would not work. if a mod does not get back right away, have patience, they have lives too and are very busy

I've been on these boards almost 20 years and have seen my fair share of drama.
But, our guidelines are pretty clear and it keeps a pretty good chunk of drama to a minimum...but people sure can get aggravated quickly and things escalate fast.
Amazing how mean people can be from the safety of their keyboard.

There is no way I would ever moderate an Internet board. In this day and age, the Pro's and Con's are probably 50/50 in this day and age and probably getting worse. I'm usually a glass half-full-kind-of-person.

Soooooo many times over the years, I've wanted to do that knee-jerk reaction and fire off a tirade to someone when I see fighting, trolling...but I don't because it just makes life harder.

Most people think they're right in what they say anymore..and defend it to the letter no matter what the cost. Then, once they've yelled at the tallest tower, it's still not enough...they stand on their tippie toes and yell louder (those who get banned and run to Facebook to gather support). What kind of life is that?

I am appreciative there's folks behind the scene keeping this place running - but it's a darn miracle they're not divorced over doing so. It is a thankless job.

I was removed from the mego ambassador facebook page for a totally valid opinion. I wasn't rude, I wasn't disrespectful towards anybody and I weighed in on a figure/head sculpt. Once that happened, I waited for my BBTS Bruce Lee and Elvis to arrive and called it a day with mego collecting. I got what I wanted out of the relaunch. Unless they rerelease Elvis in different outfits or make an Arrested Development line(NOT HAPPENING...I KNOW), I'll focus on other collectibles and interests. It left me with a really bad taste in my mouth.

There is a HATE group??? That is very sad.

I have to echo Brue's thoughts. I participate in several other boards and NONE is run anywhere near as well as this one.

You probably know this but we're not involved in the management/moderation of Mego Ambassadors and I'm not upset by that.

When Mego started it, they didn't have any idea of our history and we didn't expect them too, so a lot of a lot of old faces, some good to see, others not so much, were included.

It made for uncomfortable situations for Museum staff, while none of us engaged, a lot of nasty comments and threads were started by former members, all about how we're facists and shouldn't be involved blah blah blah. Victim blaming nonsense.

It got so heated and twisted, that I left the group for a period. I eventually returned because Lou added me back in and well, those folks wanted me to go and why give in?

no politics or religion (I love debating both of these, but this is not the place), Fun.
no porn (no one needs this and it Definetly didn't belong here), But that is why the internet was created! Haven't you seen the video?
no cussing (it doesn't edify anyone here, and can be hurtful or awkward), I like cussing. It is great stress relief, especially in traffic.
personal attacks aren't tolerated (rather, encouragement is promoted) nothing personal. (great movie too.)
No swindling people (ripping people off is just plain wrong) Ummm, ok, got nothing here.

                Those are the no's

The positive list is longer, but couldn't exist without the no's.

And moderating without being overly permissive or heavy handed is hard to do. Everybody gets it wrong sometimes, but I have to say that the moderators here have seemed to done it well.

And it used to be that banned or otherwise upset people here would just go to the other forum.

Now with facebook, it would be like playing Wack-a-mole to curb retribution. I doubt anyone has enough quarters to keep playing. So ignore the moles and know no one cares about that game and would rather be here

Well, two outta three ain't bad (couldn't find a song title for 4 out of 5).

For the record I left and have not returned. Brian is a better man than me. If there are certain people in certain places, I just won't go unless absolutely necessary. Since he has our bases covered there, I am happy to abstain. Once the people I am avoiding get themselves booted, I'll probably pop back in if they'll have me.

Also for the record, I really appreciate the positive comments in this thread.

There's unfortunately a lot of people not good at being adults and the social world we have now seems to cater to those types more than the rest of us. I admin a few email groups and have had issues over the years as well. When people feel slighted they seem to go nuclear first and then sit back to watch the world burn down. It's not fun and it's not fair you have to deal with it but some people's inner voice is one of a child, and that child seems to run their lives. Facebook and the like is just like a grade school playground, people running their mouths off, and very rarely having to deal with the consequences.

I want to thank everyone at the Museum here for their time they devote to it. I appreciate the content, the subjects and the like minded people I find here.

You know that is a really valid point, there are times where we have made people feel slighted, it was (mostly, I'll own a couple over the last 20 years) unintentional and even went as far to apologize when discovering this.

It's always the reaction that has made the difference, most people accept it at face value but other times they as you say, go nuclear and actually create more damage than the perceived slight itself. That old adage "it's not the situation but your reaction to it" comes to mind.

I mean, if you've been insulted, you're owed an apology or an explanation but harassing/threatening me or my family is not on the menu and never will be. Unfortunately, in this hobby, I've known five individuals who went there.

Recently, a Youtube reviewer respectfully criticized some new Star Wars toy and Hasbro itself. I find the man entertaining and sometimes I dislike his opinion but the retaliatory attacks on him and his wife are just insane and unqualified. At first, I felt empathy but then gratitude that this hobby isn't Star Wars sized, I think I'd go off the grid!

I don't see how you guys put up with it. Lesser folks would have thrown in the towel years ago. I have witnessed some interactions here lately that were less than pleasant, but that's not on you guys, and it was nothing worth taking to a moderator level. Despite those few blips, this is still the best forum I've ever participated in, and currently the ONLY one I still spend any amount of time at.

I do think the childlike wonder we all share, that draws us to toys and entertainment ostensibly geared toward children (at least initially) can have a darker side of man (or woman)-child rage and lack of decorum. Of course, everyone seems more infantile and inflammatory nowadays, because social media has reduced many of us to squabbling playground bullies in many ways, so flare ups are made worse by the precedent.

My belief has always been is some people have lost the innocence of childhood but have not gained the maturity or wisdom of adulthood. They are forever stuck in some sort of perpetual loop of a cruel, spiteful twisted adolescence.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
