unfortunately, there will be a star wars movie hiatus after this one. I wonder if Solo would have been better received if it were released at Christmastime?

I think Solo got buried from the fallout of Last Jedi. Which is a shame because it is actually pretty good.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I honestly chalk it up to the general movie going public being a bit fatigued and the overall bad press it got up to that. Productions that have directors removed rarely are successful (Justice League *cough*).

I enjoyed Solo a lot. I also enjoyed Rogue One and The Force Awakens.

I could spend pages on all the things that rubbed me wrong with TLJ, but I won't. It's all been hashed and rehashed.

I had kind of convinced myself that, at my age, I'm just not going to enjoy movies the same way that I did when I was younger. And then I saw Shazam the other day and it gave me the "nerd feels" again. So it can happen.

But back to this trailer: my first impression is that it's trying to go back and pick up some of the Star Wars fans that were disenfranchised with TLJ. Luke's narration (telling us RJ's Luke story might not be the final chapter after all), the Lando shot, the Death Star and Palpatine's laugh... all fan service for the ones who know what to look and listen for.

I read recently that JJ said that he was mindful that this "chapter" was not just wrapping up the sequel trilogy, but the entire Skywalker saga. So, since Snoke ended up being a nothing, JJ had to go somewhere to get a Big Bad with some gravitas. That makes sense. Force ghost Luke against Force ghost Palpatine? I think he has a lot to fix, but this direction has promise!

^Would make more sense to have Anakin show up as a Force ghost to connect the movies.

Try as I might, I just can’t help but feel this entire story Disney and JJ are trying to tell just isn’t for me. I’ll likely see this however just to get to the end and that proves I’m stupid.
Expectation is the death of discovery.

doesn't prove anything of the kind Andy, it proves you are hopeful to recapture the magic that the original trilogy was to our younger selves

                              That looks good!

I kind of expect Luke to come back to mortal human form. At least for a short period, at the right moment, when needed the most, then it's back being One with The Force, then appears near a campfire with all the major Force Ghosts.

Luke should not fight Palpatine, though, I feel.

Maybe have Luke do an important mission that no-one else can do, and not have him kill anyone.

I really have no idea what they'll do with this movie, and I don't get the title. I want to like it, and I hope I like it. Isn't Thrawn supposed to be in this one? If he is I'm as interested to see if Ezra Bridger gets a mention as anything.
