    MeTV Collectors Call...

Just got this email from MeTV and there is a new show starting tomorrow night called Collectors Call. Blair from Facts Os Life is the host of the show. Maybe we can get her to Mego Meet for a signing/show taping??!!?? She is a New Mego figure...

Cool they are doing an episode with Rick Goldschmidt… among other things, he's the world's greatest Mad Monster Party fan.

Several members here on this forum should submit their collection for consideration. I think they would like Scott Metzger's living room and kitchen filled Megos!

Hmmm, this thread was the first I heard of this show, but now my DVR is set to record it for me. Thanks for the heads up.

Unfortunately, MeTV is shown in Boston of the ABC affiliate's digital sub-channel and they show their local newscast at 10pm-. I went through the same thing when Nightstalker first started running on MeTV. It was preempted for the local news. I couldn't DVR it until it started running overnight.

Megos in Episode 2. Very cool. The collector wrote the book on Ranking and Bass. Looked very familiar. Was he at Mego Meet when we were in Skokie??

I enjoyed the episodes. Surprisingly, or maybe not surprisingly, she makes a very good host. Look forward to the following episodes.

The production is definitely on the bottom end and ffs, that ever present background music has got to go!

Otherwise it was fun seeing Rick on TV… his R & B work is fantastic and he lives in the house that toys built.

I enjoyed seeing the stuff showcased on the show, but I dislike collectibles shows that focus on the monetary value of stuff, so the appraising shtick doesn't appeal to me at all, and the manufactured drama of the potential trade that the show is built on I find flat and totally unappealing. I may watch episodes that feature types of stuff that I am interested in, but overall I wasn't drawn in by the conceits of the show's structures. Lisa is a very personable host, and the collections are cool, but the focus on money and the manufactured drama are major turn offs for me.

^ I wish they didn't do the appraising, too, but that is the justification, most collectors shows use.

I think that Kellogg's lunch box might be a couple of years before 1970, because I remember my older brother used one just like it for about three years of elementary school before he got "too old" for lunch boxes. Wish I remembered what was on the thermos.
                              It's all good!
