    Detective Comics No. 1000

So who's at the midnight sale for AC#1000?

I personally will just pick up the issue tomorrow. Not sure which cover(s) yet except I know I will get the blank cover.

Going to my LCS on Wednesday. The Bruce Timm cover is really nice and the Berni Wrightson cover is really nice. I'm Frank Miller'd out so I probably won't grab the Dark Knight Returns cover...although it is really nice. All the other ones I like are all exclusives...There are 2 Artgerm covers that I think you can only get through his site. Oh, and the Steve Rude Cover is really nice too. That is a cover that you can get at the LCS's if they get all 12 of the ones that are available to LCS's

Here are the covers I mentioned:

    Bernie Wrightson:

    Bruce Timm:

Here are the 12 that you can get through LCS's

hadn't seen the Miller one yet, I really like his more recent take on old man Batman

I went for the Rude cover. I'm a sucker for the original Batman and that early Kane/Finger period.

The Bruce Timm cover spoke to me the most, too. There's an Alex Ross cover that I liked, but I didn't see it. He got a bunch at his website, but there will be a high premium for them, and I don't care enough to do that.

Seems weird that there's no Neal Adams cover; he was instrumental in bringing Batman back from the verge of becoming a total joke after the TV series. IMHO, he had a far greater influence on The Batman than Miller did....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Or Jim Aparo for that matter.

Adams has covers available through specific retailers. Several artists do.

From what I have read there are over 80 different covers...that's a lot of money to collect them all. I am thinking DC release a poster book with all the covers down the road. I like the 'virgin' cover of Detective Comics 1950's by Michael Cho

Wrightson died a few years ago and I think the image his cover is from is maybe a commission or a sketchbook thing.

As for the covers...I think 84 was the last count on the total of covers for this issue. Yeah, variant's are getting way out of hand....but it's a way to offset printing costs for the comic book companies unfortunately.

I picked up the 30s Steve Rude, 40s Bruce Timm, and 50s Michael Cho because I couldn't decide on just one.

$9.99 from your friendly, neighborhood LCS. Or a lot more if you want any of the really nice variant covers off of eBay.....
