    RIP, Jan Michael Vincent

He passed away a month ago, but it was reported yesterday. He had gotten his big break as a cast member of Danger Island which was a segment on The Banana Splits in 1968.

^The Mechanic is fantastic. That showed he had ability. Crazy life for that guy. Hope he had some decent last years.

^I saw a recent interview with him and it was one of the saddest things I ever watched. A life utterly destroyed by drugs and alcohol. Such a waste. Airwolf was one of my favorite shows as a kid.

In addition to making me sad, I admit it also makes me angry to see someone who had such talent and opportunity in life squander it. He was once the highest paid actor on television and blew it all.

Whatever his demons were, I hope he's finally at peace.

^Yes. I'm not going to eulogize JMV here for personal reasons, but seeing him self-destruct saddened me, too. RIP.

I encourage everyone here to see him in a marvelous TV movie with Darren McGavin, "Tribes".

I'm surprised he lasted this long. He looked in rough shape in Buffalo '66, and that was 21 years ago.

He was in bad physical shape for a long time, barely recognizable. His good looks were gone, talked in a gravely raspy voice, and had lost a leg.

Alcoholism ravaged both his body and career.
