    New Big Jim Book

Sure it's in French but it looks like amazing eye candy.

I knew I should've taken French-immersion as a kid. Damn this book looks awesome!

I'll buy it just for the pictures.

I had to order this. Big Jim was my first action figure (back in 1976).

Yes, the language will be a problem.
French was my fourth language at school; after German, English and Latin

(Why Latin? Because my big sister had also chosen Latin as third language...
But that was a mistake. Didn't need Latin for anything during the last 30 years ).

I switched to French for the last three years at school and so have a basic knowledge -
enough to read French language comics (Tintin, Smurfs).
And if my French is not good enough to understand the text in the Big Jim book,
I can still admire all the pictures... Or try to translate the text using Google...

Got the book today. Here are some first impressions.

(figure not included - it's my childhood Big Jim )

The book is a nice hardcover. Great!
(I expected a soft cover because the item page said it was "broché". Doesn't that mean soft cover?)
          It's approximately 13 x 9.7 x 1 inches. And it's quite heavy.

          Beautiful large pictures:

Lots of information, e.g. on the muscle action feature:

          Mark Strong:

Terror off Tahiti, one of my favorite sets:

          And there a lot more.
There seems to be lots of information, several long interviews, and LOTS of pictures.
          It's a really beautiful book.

If you want to read the text, I believe there are apps out there that can help you translate a page of text. I remember once I found a magazine article and I scanned it, and there was some website ( I forgot the name) I uploaded it, and it recognized the characters, and typed it up for me automatically. It was free to use. Maybe someone can remember the name of the website. You can scan it or maybe take a picture of it, and use google translate to make it in english.
UPDATE: I think it's called OCR (Optical Character Recognition)

Why is Big Jim welding that clam in the video? Just one of his mysterious adventures I guess.

I did try this for a few pages of another (French) book, some time ago.
Taking pictures and converting it into text - using some OCR service - did work well.
But the automatic translation is a problem. Don't expect to get a correct translation from google translate.
The translation will be crude. Some sentences will be difficult to understand, some will even have a different meaning.
Yes, it's better than nothing and you can usually guess what the meaning of the text was.
But you shouldn't expect too much.

Great book!...even if you can’t read French. The glossy color photos are fantastic! It’s definitley worth picking up this book if you’re a Big Jim fan.

How exactly is this processed for international orders? I tried the link, but when I began an order, it did not allow me to change my country of origin or set up shipping.

Thank you! Is the hardcover only a European release, then?

Amazon France says it's "Broché", which means softcover (if I'm not mistaken).
But the book I got from them is a hardcover.
Maybe just a mistake in the Amazon database?
