I read the books, but the last couple were not great, so I doubt I will pick up any further ones, unless word of mouth is really good on them

Prequel series should start in about a year, unless it's a disaster and HBO scraps it, which is pretty unlikely..

On the upside the six eps are supposed to be longer and "feature length". The head of HBO said last week that he's seen season the whole season, and each ep is "like a movie.."

The run times of the last six eps have been released.. not exactly "feature length" for the first 3 eps..

Episode 2: 58 minutes
Episode 3: 82 minutes
Episode 4: 78 minutes
Episode 5: 80 minutes
Episode 6: 80 minutes

I've been listening to the audiobooks since the first of January on my daily commute. I'm almost mid way through book five, A Dance with Dragons. Books one to three were good, 4 is rough, hardly any of the regular characters in it. Book five is better, but after book three a lot has been changed compared to the series, and they sort of had to do that because they were going quicker than the books were coming out.

I have enjoyed them, and wanted to have all of them wrapped up before the new series, which looks like I'll be able to do.

"Game of Thrones" typical runtime is 55 minutes. It is like they are giving us 7.5 episodes for the price of 6... which is um... nice I guess.
