    Victorian Father Christmas!

    Hello all, and Merry Christmas!

Here is my latest addition to my "Santa Clauses from Around the World."

Anyone wishing to see the original thread with several other Santa customs can see it here:

Hello all! I was sharing these pics with Austin earlier today, and he suggested that I post them. I am mostly known for my monster customs, so it didn't even occur to me to post them, but I do, on occasion, make some non-monster customs, and the following figures are some of my favorites. One of the things that has

This year's custom is Victorian Father Christmas (version II).

Those familiar with my original thread will know I did another version of Father Christmas in red hood, gold trim, and red robe. However, earlier in the Victorian era, Father Christmas would often be depicted in long green robes, trimmed with white fur. He would alternately wear a green hat trimmed with holly, or a laurel crown made from holly garland. he would sometimes be seen holding a scepter or a cornucopia lit like a torch.

This is the Father Christmas that Dickens used as the model for his Ghost of Christmas Present.

My Father Christmas towers over his compatriots. He is on a Fonzie body with longer legs added by me. The Fonzie switch in the back gives him "scepter raising action"! lol

He uses the same base head sculpt as all my other Santas, but I resculpted him with longer curly hair and the laurel crown

As always, all paints and costuming done by me.

Thanks for looking, and Merry Christmas everyone.

    Best,

    Matt
Warm up?! We may as well sit around this cigarette!

Good eye!! That was intentional. He is my favorite of the Ghosts of Christmas Present, and the most accurate to how he is portrayed in the book

Lovely. I like nuances of Christmas Present in the book which are usually absent in adaptation.

(And that's a cool Phantom in the background.)

I tend to like Victorian stylings (clearly I should make a beaver-skin-top hat for Zaius!) in general, so I'm diggin' this. Another fine addition to your excellent project; thanks for sharing!
