    2001 in 4K

Just watched the new 4K version of 2001 A Space Odyssey. Wow! I’ve always been a fan of the film, but on my big screen it was phenomenal. Highly recommended.

Awesome. Yeah, I'd pick up the 4K blu ray but I've already overspent this season. Unfortunately no screenings near me.

That sounds really cool. I watched it a lot on regular DVD. It would be fun to see the increased sharpness and detail.

I have not seen this movie since I was a kid, but I recall being bored to tears

It's an acquired taste, for certain. An arthouse film, but brilliant science fiction. It can't be overstated how ahead of its time it was. And the special effects still hold up today. You can really feel the old school NASA influence and a lot of expert consultation of the time on the screen.

I have to be in the right mood for it, but I dig it.

i do recall some of the really cool effects. I also agree it was way ahead of it's time. Kubrick was a really weird dude and many of his movies, are a bit "off" but are considered cult classics
