    Favorite Christmas album/holiday songs?

Mine is Christmas with the Chipmunks. I unironically, unapologetically, genuinely love it. Nothing puts me in my holiday happy place like this album.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

        I have a few...

A Charlie Brown Christmas by the Vince Guaraldi Trio
Christmas with Cockburn, especially the track that includes a version of TS Eliot's Journey of the Magi with Lou Reed sitting in on vocals
Bing Crosby & David Bowie's duet on Little Drummer Boy
Bruce Springsteen's version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town
        Father Christmas by the Kinks
        Elvis' version of Winter Wonderland
Nat King Cole's version of a Christmas Song

I’m not going to go into individual songs, now, because it’s toonearly in the morning for me to think that much.

Anyhow, I always liked the Vince Guaraldi Trio from Charlie Brown.

That Carpenters Christmas album was a classic from the beginning, in my opinion. So good.

I’ve also always thought that Johnny Mathis, Perry Como and Dean Martin recorded some instant Christmas classics.

I know I’ve forgottten a lot, right now, but that’s my start.

I love Christmas music, but my all-time favorite is John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together. My mom got that for me and my sister when it first came out (we got the new/1980s Alvin album a couple of years later), and instantly became a favorite. I still have that vinyl album and have added a couple of CD versions over the years.

Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.

Meco's (Not to be confused with MeGo) Christmas in the Stars: The Star Wars Christmas Album is right up there for me. I know it's corny, but it's also quite fun, peppy, lively, festive, and yes, even emotionally sappy when appropriate. You can scoff at titles like "What Can You Get A Wookiee for Christmas (When He Already Owns A Comb)?", but you can tell a lot of heart went into this. It's a great recording. Anthony Daniels is in TOP form as C-3PO, and Meco's orchestral accompaniment is very rich and wonderfully textured. It does not sound cheap. Great recording. Wish they'd have done one for the Prequel and Sequel trilogies as well.

YES! Anything by "The Caroleers" is to shelf stuff. "Jack Frost", "Donner and Blitzen".... those are all classics to me.

And Werewolf, I agree, Christmas with the Chipmunks has a holiday spirit that transcends its "novelty" roots. It really is fun and even sometimes heartwarming. Another GREAT recording with terrific orchestral accompaniment.

Love the Chipmunks, and still listen as well. My absolute favorite, the first to go on the player every year was this:

They even did a TV special!

I'm also a sucker for the ORIGINAL Mickey's Christmas Carol, which the later animated short was based on. I had this and a Disney Christmas song album as a kid, and wore those out. The Christmas Carol record came with a storybook as well.

There are quite a few changes made in the animated movie. On the original record, Merlin is the Ghost of Christmas Past, and the Wicked Queen as the old witch is the Ghost of Christmas Future.
